I got a new computer and I'm trying to download and install Skype from the company's website. I have successfully downloaded many files on this computer (e.g., other programs, Vista update, etc.)
When using either Firefox 3.0 or Internet Explorer 7.0, the download hangs after only partially downloading the file. The percentage downloaded before it stops is not always the same. I have allowed the download manager several hours, with no visible progress. (Actually, today, after pausing after 26%, I re-tried Firefox and now it won't even start the download after clicking the download button on the Skype website.)
I've also tried on my older computer (on XP) and I'm having the same problem.
This would suggest to me that Skype is having an issue with their website, but I've had this problem for numerous days, and others have verified that they can download the file.
I've re-started my browsers, my computers, and I've used profanity, but nothing seems to allow me to download the entire file.
I'm at a loss to explain this. Could there be some setting on my router or on my computer that is causing this? Is it conceivable that this problem can be due to the fact that I have two computers sharing a connection (with a linksys router)?
Any suggestions or solutions are much appreciated.
