Hi there, hoping someone might have some suggestions for this pesky networking problem. I'm using Vista 64. I had a Netgear wireless adapter that could only get two bars, so I returned it and got an Edimax card with remote antenna.
After I installed the Edimax card using the latest driver from their website, things seemed to work great (suddenly got 5 bars and picked up other networks), but the PC would freeze after a few minutes and I'd have to reboot. I tried using Ralink's RT61 drivers instead, and the PC stopped freezing.
Things were great for awhile. I have added some other programs and a new monitor, and suddenly today....I can ONLY connect to the internet with the beta 64-bit Firefox, or 64-bit IE. No other internet programs will connect - itunes 64-bit, utorrent, 32-bit browsers. Utorrent and itunes act as if I'm disconnected from the internet; Firefox 32 now crashes whenever it starts. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the programs and it changes nothing.
I tried going back to the Edimax drivers, and the system does not freeze anymore, but the problem with the other programs persists. I've tried resetting the router also.
Any suggestions? I don't want to have to do a reinstall of Vista..
