Which one should I get?

From the videos and trailers, they both look really good. But looks can be deceiving as Bad Company 2 wasn't my cup of tea.



Is there a way for me to try Battlefield 3 before purchasing?
 
how do you feel about the past BF titles on PC (before BC2)?

for me its easily BF3 hands down... i've been a big fan since 1942.
i've played every COD game on PC but i think MW3 will be the first one i'll skip. i've been pretty disappointed by the last 2 COD titles (black ops and mw2).
 
It may be possible for you to get into the beta without preordering the game in a few weeks when it begins.

One thing to note is that MW3 is going to be MW2/Black ops. Nothing new to see there. If you like either of those games then you really probably can't go wrong with MW3. I will say that in my opinion BF3 is going to be roughly 1000 times better than MW3.

Another thing to remember is that BF3 will actually go on sale relatively soon. Whereas MW3 will probably still be selling for 60 bucks in 3 years if previous cods are anything to go by.
 
I think BF3 will be a far superior game..... but, MW3 is not likely to go on sale soon, whereas it seems EA is a lot more willing to offer a good sale within a couple months. So, if you are going to be buying and playing both at some point, I think as far as money is concerned, it will be cheaper to buy MW3 now and then wait for a sale on BF3

Yup, as we all know, every MW game is the same so if you loved one you'll love them all. They never change much which is good if you love them. I got bored of BC2 easily but played BF2 for many years and I expect BF3 to be closer to BF2 than BC2 but we can only hope.
 
bf3 and mw3 are going to just be more of the same. if you liked one of the previous games over the other, stick with that series.

this forum loves to hate on CoD games but hypocritically loves BF games.

i've hated every bf game i ever played so no way am i buying another bf game. I liked the IW CoD games but not so much the treyarch ones. MW3 is IW but missing the people that made the previous CoD games so not sure how it will hold up.

bf3 will probably have better graphics but you can polish a turd all you want, it's still a turd.

With the various modes of play and everything it has to live up to hype-wise, I'd put my money behind BF3. Just looks like it will be a more robust game.
 
BF3 will have a beta that will be OPEN TO ALL, within the next 2 weeks.
Yes, you will be able to try it before you have to buy it.

BF3 has destructible terrain, BF2 didn't. That's a major difference.

The COD series has been using the same engine, no? Frostbite 2.0 will be a giant leap for the BF series through it's superior graphics, character animation, soundscape, and destructible environments.

Have you played bf2 and BC2? Then you'd know the battlefield series has completely changed over the past 5 or 6 years. The introduction of CoD4 into the market completely changed to dynamic of every FPS since, and it would be asinine to compare bf2 to bf3 as a reskin, partially because of the impact CoD4 has upon the FPS genre.

This has manifested itself differently for the CoD series however. The success of the CoD4 archtype of FPS has led the dev team to reuse the exact same formula since the release of CoD4, while adding a small variety of new features and graphics. CoD4 was a major shift which the rest of the industry, including the battlefield franchise has followed. It would be hard to argue that, but the CoD franchise doesn't seem to understand that remaining attached to a stagnating formula for every single release is exactly the opposite of the revolutionary steps they took with CoD4 through which they took the market by storm.


Oh and ponti my man, you really seem to want me to disagree with you, i mean, you even said that treyarch CoD games were the better ones... lol bro, it's times like this that make it hard to take you seriously... you know about the whole IW/Activision lawsuit thing right? Plus sledgehammer? Open your eyes =D

don't mind pontifex... he hates BF because he gets his ass handed to him whenever he plays multiplayer... if you don't believe me read the BC2 thread and most of his posts are complaining about getting killed...

You can get BF3 for 25% off now. One thing to remember is buying it as a preorder will save you from having to get the Karkand pack later.
 
BF3 hands down.

Especially since you can get it for $45 preorder.

I just bought mine today and got Dead Space 2 free in a different promotion.

true PC FPS gamers in general love to hate on CoD games ever since true innovation in the series stopped and went down hill after COD1 and 2 and somewhat 4 and thus understandably love BF games.
