can not get X2 4400 system to boot up, anybody know what post code F9 means on abit AV8 mobo?

i tried unsuccesfully yesterday to build a X2 4400 system. my first attempt was with a asus A8V deluxe motherboard that would not even turn on, no post no nothing. that was a brand new motherboard, second attempt was with a abit AV8 motherboard. it would post but would only run for few seconds and give the code F9 or 9F i can't remember which way they was displayed. long day. i tried disconnecting hardware and just booting with minimal setup but still got same error. the list of hardware used is in my signature below except for the motherboard and chip. anybody have an idea what i am doing wrong? everything i used is being used now to post this so i know the parts work. thank you in advance for any help on this.

One of the VIA chipsets doesn't support the X2. I don't know about the AV8. I've had problems with that board before and wouldn't recommend it.

I have a 4400+ X2 running smoothly on an Asus A8V Deluxe in my machine though. It may need a BIOS update to recognize the X2 but it should POST.

no, it would not even post at all for me. tried everything i now to get that thing to post. i installed and removed so many boards yesterday i can't see straight 🙂 do like the P180 though, that is the only good thing that come of yesterdays fiasco
