Can no Samsung phones learn new T9 words?

It seems from what I've been hearing that all current generation Samsung phones on Verizon have an issue where they can't add custom T9 words to the dictionary. Is this true? If so, is there any workaround, such as editing the dictionary file manually with a data cable or maybe an unofficial hacked firmware?

Without knowing the issue, i'd put money that the problem comes from Verizon not Samsung.

Oh yeah, I'm very aware of that, that's why I said "current generation Samsung phones on Verizon." It seems to be a glitch with their software but only on Samsung hardware. I just wanted to verify if this was true across all Samsung phones on Verizon. I know of it to be true across at least 3 different Samsung models.
