When I try to connect to hotel wifi it usually redirects to a local IP for me to accept terms/ input password. This works on various other mobile devices but on my note 3 my chrome goes straight to google (my homepage) instead and fails to load anything since I'm not yet connected.

I have to get the connect URL from another device in order to connect. I compared chrome settings and they appear the same. Why does it never redirect me to where it should go instead of right to google? The other devices also have homepage set to on and to Google.

Have you tried turning off your cellular data connection first? I have the same issue with my work guest wifi. If I turn off cell data first, then attempt to open any web page I will get the redirect. Otherwise the phone (Nexus 6) will simply use my data connection.

This is because your default site, google, is enforcing encryption (https). If you go to a non-secure site, like ford.com, you'll get the hotel's prompt
