hey guys ....it's been a longtime since any game has made me feel like a spoilt child and bf 3 is now that game ......

so please tell me will my rig be able to handle bf3 on 1080p at ultra settings or will i have to bring the resolution down to 1600 x 900? in crysis 2 FPS fluctuates a lot at ultra on 1080p but when i play on 1600 x 900 it's all butter.

P.S.- i'm not gonna be using AA on 1080p, even if available in game.

It's honestly too hard to say at this point. Beta game + very early drivers + companies don't have 'gold' game code to tweak drivers for = big mystery.

I'd say with confidence that performance will increase substantially for all current-gen midrange to high end cards over the next 6-8 weeks, especially after the game goes gold.

I have a core i7-920 OC to 3.6 ghz and a gtx 580 and I am able to play the beta at ultra settings @ 1920x1080 flawlessly (no noticeable drop in framerate anywhere).

Why are you so confident about this?

The beta doesn't have ultra settings nor the highest textures. And not even dx11 features.

Yeah I'm beginning to feel like I'm beating my head against the wall.

The Beta and these unoptimized drivers from NV and AMD = we have no damned idea how things will be with final code and updated drivers.

DO NOT TAKE BETA BENCHES SERIOUSLY. They are at best a general preview, but things can get dramatically different with the final game, with patches, and with drivers, and the smart money is on truly huge changes.

Why are you so confident about this?

Because beta releases of significant new gaming engines often show huge changes from beta to gold code, and equally important, updated drivers often bring huge gains as well.

I am pretty confident that either a 58xx and up for ATI and a GTX4xx and up for NV will be able to play the game fairly well with final code and drivers.

If you aren't using AA you might be ok, but the only limitation is could see is that you probably have a 1gb frame buffer on your 6850's. You may run out of memory with Ultra textures. I know people are saying that the game uses around 1gb right now with high textures.
