Hello, I have a Compaq Presario S5100NX 2.6 GHz, currently 512 MB of PC 2100 ram, and I was wondering is there anyway I can figure out if I can run PC 2700 RAM? I am planning on upgrading to a gig of PC 2700(2 x 512 ) I have no idea what my motherboard is.

Thank You

The ram should work, but it might not as some motherboards are picky. If it does work most likely it will run at 266/2100 speeds not at 333/2700. Look at the MB for identifying information, such as manufacture, part numbers, etc. and Google them.
Good luck,
Bob

Compaq is owned by HP now and I believe if you check out the Hp website you can get an email support address. They respond pretty fast, but you might have too send them a couple emails as i don't think they understand english very well. I believe they are in India. If you search the site, put in your model number and such you should be able to find the info you are looking for,

As the previous poster said, QUOTE Look at the MB for identifying information, such as manufacture, part numbers, etc. and Google them.
Good luck,
Bob
