Old, dell. IF i get enough money i'll build a new computer. BUt for now, will it even run? OR will it be choppy and unplayable?

Anyone seen Nik today? 😛

And no, my little bro is running better system specs and he's having quite a bit of trouble with HL2. I imagine you're not going to get anywhere with it. Time for a new machine.

I'd say if you really want to be playing something of the source nature, play Counter Strike Source on your current computer. Once you get a new one, then play HL2.

The first time through HL2 is the best, I wouldn't spoil it with a sub par computer.

What can i expect on "low detail" Would it have little/no shadows, jaggies, no water reflections, -ie, look kinda like GTAIII:SA (which im playing now) or can i expect some of the half-life 2 "wow factor" just not as polished?

on low detail its still pretty amazing, i had some settings on medium. I'd say your ram might be an issue though, loadings times are a b!tch sometimes.

Ran surprisingly fine, except for parts

with the squad or when people followed me. When they'd run around and play their grabass I felt a little lag, but that was it. Also, get used to waiting for about 3 seconds or so after each in-game load because it lags a bit too. I really would recommend CS:S until you can upgrade a little bit. Sh1t man, a 9200 was only 40 bucks at Outpost earlier this week, that coulda been your start!

It'll run fine if you get another stick of ram. It wont look amazing with a 9100, but itll run great. But you absolutely NEED more ram.

Wow Craig, your so cool. I mean, you really showed me up by posting an irrelevant response stating that half-life 2 will run an a 9800pro.
