Can multi-OS boot work like this...?

I know you can install regular dual boots and select between the multiple installed OS, but I'm just curious if setting up 2 different OS; one on SATA and another on IDE and before bootup, go into bios and select either the SATA or IDE to boot first, would the installed OS boot up w/o problems?

Mobo: Abit NF7-S 2.0

Yes, I've actually run a dual boot that way before. It should work just fine.

Thanks for the quick reply. Were there any disadvantages in this kind of setup vs. traditional dual booting setup? (aside from having to go into bios to change booting)

Something else you could use is multiple C: partitions on the IDE drive, and software like www.V-Com.com System Commander. A hard drive can have up to 4 primary partitions or 3 plus a logical partition (for multiple data-only drive letters).

I never had any problems. The only thing I could think of is if one is Linux vs the other Windows, you might have problems accessing files on the other HD (but that might be good if you really want to keep them seperate).
