Can mac monitors be adapted for PC's

A colleague who wishes me to build a PC for him has a mac 17" monitor, the Mac it has come from is a old 4400 will I be able to purchase a adaptor to allow the monitor to be used on a PC set up. thanks in anticipation Steve

you can use 15 pin adapter to 9pin vga that what I did with old Mac monitor. The adapter cost $10

First you have to look on the back of the monitor. If it says "Multiscan" near the top, then you can use it on a PC. I use a Mac monitor on my pc, and all you need is a dongle mentioned above.

There used to be a company called Griffon Technologies in Nashvile, TN that made adapters for that. I sold a guy an NEC monitor and purchased the adapter there for his Mac. It works in reverse as well. No idea if they are still there though!
