Sure.

would you like to expand on that...lol

You first. 🙂

Really quite simple linux desktop if you want to ininiate a shortcut for instance on your desktop you double click if you just want to select it you single click.

In windows you have the option to change this so a mouseover = a single click and a single click= a double click.

I understood the concept, but you lack the details.

I don't think GPM can do this. Window Managers and Desktop Environments probably can. Consult the documentation for whatever environment you currently use.

Or post it, and maybe someone already knows how. 😉

am on ubuntu breezy badger at the moment.

ps: one of thes days have to make up basic rig description for my profile i guess..thx🙂

I should write a book. Something along the lines of "Zen and the Art of Asking a Good Question." Especially with regards to Linux and the BSDs, questions like the OP's are difficult with too little information. I use Blackbox, FVWM, w9wm, and a hand full of other Window Managers. I could provide the answers for all of them, and still miss the one that the OP uses.

My answer of "sure" answered the question ("windows allows you to select with mouseover and exe with single click anyway to make linux do this?") properly. It is possible. With more information from the OP I was able to provide the steps to do so (thanks to a simple google search), answering a follow up request/question from the OP.

Despite what kindergarten teachers might have taught people, there is such a thing as a stupid question. 😉

This one wasn't stupid, it was incomplete. 🙂

I think the higher lesson here is that *nix users should only post on a forum as a last resort. Google first, search forums, then make a post. If you post a question, you'll have to wait for an answer. Don't do that to yourself. Be independant and capable of helping yourself.

It's not quite the last resort.

The order roughly goes like this (and there is room for argument):
documentation, Google, forum, project mailing list, developer email
Where appropriate, search before posting.

I do google quite a bit but whats wrong with seeing if someone already knows something off the top of thier head?

If they do great. If they don't oh well eventually I will probably figure it out but in the meantime I had a barrel of NocMonkeys.

Plus I think I just enjoy hanging here.

I can't always think of hard questions to pose
but thats a good thing means my systems are running good😀

at least you try.

Noooooo, that's not the way why bother with google, come to AT, search for n0cmonkey and his gang of Elite members 😛 make sure all of them are offline, then post your question, I'll jump in with an answer that doesn't sound robotic 😀 and then I'll set things up with a moderator by which they will program the app that is handling posts on the forum to remove you thread immediatley once n0cmonkey and the linux GURUs login, what do you think about the plan, EVIL huh ?

whatever floats yer boat. I just like talking computers.
I like asking questions and I like answering them.
If it makes it funner for you, I am all for it🙂

You know, in all honesty, I do think sometimes i forget linux comes in 33 flavors just like the ice cream place .

so he has a good point about needing a lil more info...this is my second linux distro I have tried often what worked in win 9whatever works in all windows os but that could be untrue in linux i suppose.

It's true Linux has a near infinite amount of platforms and programs, which makes it hard for the other party to help you. Right now I'm running SUSE Linux 64 and my dad is running Linux on a Blackfin DSP.

Not to mention all the different window managers: xfce, fvm95, gnome, kde, windowmaker, enlightenment, blackbox, fluxbox. And explorers: nautilus, konquerer, probably something else I'm forgetting. You get the point...

yes, you restated my point very eloquently🙂
so you switch flavors once a month or just keep using the same one?
