Can Lacie Ethernet Disk RAID Spare Drive be used as a normal hard drive?

Can this LaCie 1TB drive be used as a normal SATA drive? How does the performance compare to consumer 1TB drives? Also, it says cache 8mb or greater (I assume 8mb is for the 4x250gb drives) so does anyone know what the cache is for the 1TB drive?

I'm asking these because I may have found a really hot deal.
