Have a great ISA USR hardware modem (in FIC 503+)which gives me 50,666bps regularly. Could use of this ISA slot be holding me back in o/cing? Thanks for any input.

Theres a 100% chance that it won't hurt your overclocking at all, with a 5% chance that it will. Theres a +/- 5% margin of error.

afaik, it could be, depending on you fsb. is there a divider for ISA? try pushing your fsb to the next divider(100mhz, 133mhz, etc.) and see if it helps

k6III's don't do much. none of the K6-X line did. too much heat, and they just didn't like high speeds

I think the max fsb on these boards is 100mhz.Try the next multiplyer setting of 5. I thought o/cing only applied to the pci bus ?

The ISA bus is asyncronous from the other bus's on the board. By overclocking the FSB, the ISA bus is not changed.

BurntKooshie's correct, the ISA bus only runs at 8MHz, no matter what the FSB is. The modem is definately NOT holding you machine back.

Thanks for the great responses. It's so easy to hear a piece of bad dope, and it hangs in your mind til you get the good sense to ask better qualified persons to show the way. John
