Can installing a new video card break my internet connection?

My internet is connected through a cable to a belkin pre-n router. Always worked perfectly. A few days ago I install a Geforce 6200 video card because I got it cheap on buy.com (39 bucks) and because my ti4200 fan died. Ever since then I have been getting random 5 minute splotches of no internet every 30 minutes or so. I thought maybe it was spyware so I ran spybot, adaware AND antivir scan and deleted everything each one of those found, which wasnt much, but still same problem! What is going on please someone help me i cant take this much longer lol

I wouldn't expect a 6200 to take more power than a Ti4200, but I suppose it's possible. Perhaps the 6200 is putting out some off electromagnetic interference which is disrupting the board, but it'd be odd for only the Internet connection to be affected. Can we assume you have the most current nvidia Forceware drivers installed?

You could test this by reinstalling your Ti4200. Even though the fan doesn't work, the card itself should be okay unless the fan died and the system kept running until it failed. Just leave the side of the case off, and point a small fan into the case.

I suppose it's possible that there is some odd incompatibility between your mainboard and that particular card, from that particular manufacturer.

Slightly off the topic, but how is the performance of the 6200 compared to the Ti4200? Reviews rarely make comparisons between cards that are so far apart generationally, so people with a Ti level card never can tell whether the current low-end is any match for their once-mighty cards.

thanks I'll try all that...keep you posted. About the performance....the only thing i've run is counter-strike condition zero and it runs the same as it did on the 4200. So because of that I got pumped and decided to download CS:Source. It runs like absolute crap like i cant even play it in fact im pretty mad I bought it. Its not like I have a bad computer either i have a 2500+ and 512 ram and the 6200. I'm actually confused as to why its so rediculously choppy...merh whatever.
