I'm about to install win2k on my desktop and dual boot it with winme... should I just add the dnet client to my win2k startup group or do I have to reinstall it due to some registry entries? Guess I'm just tryin to keep my WUs in order :)

As long as your W2K is on a fat partition, and not NTFS you should be able to share the dir and/or partition with Winme.

If your worried that the W2K install will wipe out your client and/or pproxy, just copy the buff-in/out files to a floppy, just in case.
You can always reinstall the client or pproxy fresh, and put your buff-in/out files back in off the floppy before firing them up later.

Other way round, Kilowatt : he already got winMe and wanna add 2k.

Mutilator : wether you choose to dual-boot on a separate (NTFS or FAT) or same partition (FAT), no worries.

Keep good'ole dnet client in the same place, go to that folder in a command line and shoot "dnetc -install"

Then you'll have the service installed in win2k and crack whatever OS you boot in. I do this on 2 machines since months. cracking a block can be started by one OS and finished by another, provided they're both win32 and same CPU.

Of course there are other ways to install the service, from the start/run command, or by creating a shortcut with the -install parameter.

If you really want to have the cow icon in the tray instead of hidden service, you can create a shortcut in the startup folder in \documents and settings\all users\startup menu\programs\startup\ (i guess its the name in US versions)

heh forgot I posted this :)
I got it all setup... just copied the dnet client from one startup folder to the other... and copied over the dnetc screen saver just for the hell of it :)
And yes it does continue off where the other OS left off... doesn't really matter tho since I'm probably not going to use me anymore ;)

I had it right.

LeBlatt, you saying WinMe can read NTFS partitions, that's a new one on me.
Win98 can't read a NTFS partition.
NT with NTFS, can read a fat partition, not the other way around.
Unless Billy Boy built that in WinMe, I don't know, I've never used WinMe.

Mutilator, Coping the dnet folder is OK, as long as your not going to run WinMe anymore.
Since you copied it, if you do run it under WinMe, you'll be doing the same blocks over again, since all you did was copy them.
Delete the buff-in/out files, and get new ones, if you do run it under WinMe.

I didn't copy the folder... I just copied the shortcut that was in the winme startup group and put it in the win2k startup group :)
