Can I write sixteen hundred on a check?

Sure why not did you know that technically you can write a "check" on anything provided you have a checking account. You could write it on a napkin if you wanted.

Old people. I fucking hate checks. A bunch of needless writing and bookkeeping, and the recipient isn't sure they're actually getting paid til it clears.

As an old person, I use checks. Landscaper, couple of utilities, charitable donations, NY529plan, daughters dance class, school events ... Not everyone takes credit cards.

I use debit/credit where I can, but yea a lot of contractors will not take CC due to fees. We have some local utilities also that only take checks/cash.

It's true, and here is what I've learned in 2018.
- I received a check for services rendered that had the totally wrong name on it. It went through without delay. Account holder got a phone call to make sure it was okay.
- I received a check for services rendered that had words not matching the written number. I knew the correct amount and it went through without delay. Account holder got a phone call to make sure it was okay.
- My day job paycheck was not signed by the owner. It went though without delay. Owner got a phone call to make sure it was okay.
So yes, I believe you could write it on a napkin too and it would still work ...

I'm down to one check every three years. My fair state only accepts checks for professional registration renewals. My checks show the name of my bank as it was prior to being bought eight years ago. I should be able to retire before I have to order more checks.

I have to write two checks a year. One for property taxes, one for state taxes. Neither will accept a credit card, and I'm not sending cash.

Our pool guy only takes cash or checks. Been trying to convince him to use Venmo or some other form for the convenience to no avail. Other than that, I'm not sure what else the wife cuts a check out to.

you didn't bump it. You were likely the first to see it after it was necro'd by a spammer, probably trying to sell cheap online cheques, whose account was nuked, post-haste.
