I have MSI K7T-R mobo and i'd like to know if I can use the RAID controller as a normal controller. I have two hard drives CD-ROm and CD Burner and internal ZIP drive. I have tried to disable the onboard RAID controller so I could use the Promise 66 PCI controller for the ZIP drive but I don't think there is a way to disable it. SO I'd like to know if I could use the RAID controller as a normal ATA/100 controller for my hard drives without setting up any raid arrays?? I don't think it can be done. BTW this is Promise Fast Trak 100 controller. Is there a new bios for it? Can I disable it in the mobo BIOS? I have the latest.....Thanks and as always party on !!!....

i'd connect the cd-drives and the zip to the regular/standard-controllers and the harddisks to the promise.
both harddisks should be master if you have two 80-pin-cables. you'll have to create a raid-array on each disk. do the following:

first
hook up only the first drive to the promise-controller, bear in mind to use the black connector for the disk and the blue one for the promise-controller
second
boot up, enter the promise-bios and create an array with the option (1) and then save
third
disconnect the disk you just worked on
fourth
hook up the other harddisk and do the same thing as before
fifth
when all above is done hook up both drives and watc how both arrays are displayed, to make sure everything went as planned enter the promise-bios again and let the arrays be displayed. you'll see then that the first drive you worked on is array number one and the second one is number two.
