Can I use my Sony 27' flat TV as my main display?

Now I know I just need a video/TV card with a TV-out and set the main display to the tv-out.

What I want to ask is will I be able to use most programs and see the text properly
I know tv-out works great for games and videos but what about everyday usage?

Sorry but I've never used a tv-out on a computer b4...
I want to hear some opinions for my next PC purchase.

Also are there any refresh rates for TVs??

I don't want to spend money on a new monitor... my current 19' NEC monitor is not even a flat screen and it's getting dimmer everyday

So I want to use my TV as my main display if that's possible.

text would be a problem (fuzzy) as most tv cards or tv out is 600x800 some are higher but your better off replacing the monitor than trying to use the tv as a monitor.surfing is tough in most cases as the fuzzy text is a real eyestrain.

I have a Radeon 9000, and hooked it up to my 53'' Hitachi Rear Projection (not HDTV) though S-Video, and the text was pretty blurry, but games and movies looked awesome. I also hooked it up to my Mitsubishi 48'' HDTV through S-Video (which was 480i, not 1080 which is HDTV), and it still looked blurry. I'd just buy a monitor, as a decent HDTV out card would probably cost the same, if not more.

I think even on a HDTV the resolution would be way to big on a 27", as the icons would be too big. I wouldn't suggest the TV either because the refresh is only 60hz. And I believe the AIW Radeons have the option of getting a HDTV out.

correction only the 9700, 9500, 8500 Radeons and the 8500 AIW and probably the newer AIW radeons. Although I don't know what it connects to on the card.
