Let me elaborate. Those prepaid cellphone services come with generic phones that even a homeless guy won't touch. Now I have a $300 cellphone out of service. I was wondering if it's possible to use this phone with a prepaid service? This way I get to use a cool phone and not be bound by a contract cellphone service.

Any GSM phone should be able to be used with tmobile and AT&T prepaid.

I don't know about CDMA and verizon.

Who do you currently have service with? With a GSM phone (Tmobile, At&t), theoreticly, all you will have to do is buy a prepaid sim and switch it to your old phone. if you purchased it from your carrier, you may have to get the subsity lock unlocked. Sometimes, carriers will do this if you ask (Tmobile), but others (At&t), they most often wont, so you may have to pay for a unlock code for your phone. If you use a CDMA carrier, things can be a little more difficult. Ive heard of Verizon phones being activated on a prepaid service called page plus (also Alltel, US cellular), but I dont think I have ever heard of a Sprint phone being able to be used on a prepaid carrier.
