Question Can I use faster DDR5 on a mobo that supports slower DDR5 (backwards compatibility/downclocking?)

Memory in question:
DDR5 5600 1.35V
or
DDR5 5600 1.25V
or
DDR5 5200 1.10V

I take it the important aspect here is the voltage the motherboard supports. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find what voltage those RAM slots are rated for.

The memory should run 4400/4800 by default if that's all the board can handle. That page is listing the voltage THOSE memory mudules require. I'm sure you could turn it higher.
Generally memory modules are more stable when run below their rating.

Do you already have the board? Seems kind of dated to invest in.

I'm not sure I understand. So you're saying I can run memory modules with the mobo, even if the modules require higher voltage than the mobo can deliver? Sorry, I'm not very well-versed with memory tech. And I always thought higher voltage = better for stability, assuming nothing breaks. Or did you mean lower speed than what they're rated at, not voltage?

By the way, how risky is it to pry off G.Skill Trident Z5 heatspreaders (using only something like say a blowdryer on very low heat setting, and some isopropyl alcohol to hopefully weaken the adhesive)?

I didn't say old. I said dated. As in lacking features that I would want for that price, including the ability to run decent DDR5 speeds. I'd get a 7 series chipset.

Your requirements are silly if the case doesn't have a window. The board is going to look the same whether it's plain, or not. If it has lights, turn them off.

Why would you want to pry the heatspeaders off? Your case isn't going to have a window, you can't see them, and you will void the lifetime warranty.
You'll also kill resale value.

Also: I'm thinking of modding the side of my case so that it has a window, fwiw.
 
I don't want to start a new thread, so I'll just ask this here:

Is V-color a reliable memory manufacturer (I never heard about them until very recently)? The sticks in question use Hynix chips.
