Can I use dial-up with a wireless broadband router?

I recentely purchased a Linksys 802.11b Wireless Broadband Router (BEFW11S4) so I could network a computer in a location where ethernet wiring is not an option. Prior to my attempt at the wireless network, my network was as follows:
My two compters were networked via a hub with the primary computer using a dial-up modem to connect to the internet, and the secondary computer accessing the internet via Internet Connection Sharing.

Now that I have the Wireless Router, I have had some problems getting the internet to the second computer, since it is a broadband router, and I cannot use broadband yet. The primary computer is hard-wired to the wireless router and with the secondary computer being moved to a location where I could not reach with wire, so it is being connected via a wireless USB adapter. The two computers can see each other on the network, but I cannot get the secondary computer to use the Internet Connection Sharing over the network from the primary computer.

I was told a few times that it is possible to use ICS through the wireless router, and then be able to upgrade to a cable connection, when it becomes available. Please let me know if my idea is even possible, and what I must do to configure it correctly.

Thank you very much for your time!

Try turning off NAT on your router. ICS and the router are butting heads trying to do the same job.

I've been trying to do this for a while with my Micro$oft broadband router/hub/wap/whateveritis.

Sigh. I've been tempted to do a peer=to=peer without the router. But then I have to buy 2 more USB wifi adapters, since 2 machines are using the hardwire plugs on the thing.

Hmmm.. I can't seem to find any options that let me disable NAT... I don't know why it isn't an option, but could it be listed as something else?

NAT is disabled by not using the WAN port.

However, disable the DHCP if it On.

I never did ICS with Wireless, but could be that the problem involves the Router IP assignment. ICS is forcing a certain IPs, and the Router has to be adjusted to it.

I do not know if this applies but take a look any way.

If it help to solve the problem, please let me know.

I read that page, and it came to the same conclusion at JackMDS, to disable the DHCP, which was enabled by default. I disabled it, tried to connect with the wirelessly connected computer, but still nothing... IE shows "detecting proxy settings" but then comes up with a page not found error.

It does sound like ICS is trying to use one IP addy and the Router needs to be adjusted, so I'll take a look around the "fowarding" settings page for the router. Too bad I'll probably have no clue what to do at that point. I'll also check out that link and see if there's anything that can help. Thanks!

I gotta run to work, but I will give that AnalogX program a try when I get home, it does look promising.

AnalogX, is there anything that guy CAN'T do?
