Can I use 333 mhz in a motherboard designed for 266 mhz? Can I set the speed of the memory in the motherboard BIOS to 7ns or must I leave it at 8ns? If I do this, are there any other tweeks that I could perform to since the memory can handle faster speed?

You can use the faster memory in the A7V266E. The question is whether the other components (e.g. CPU, PCI cards) will be able to keep up at the faster speed.

If you can change the multiplier setting of the CPU, you should have more success at being able to run the memory faster than 133MHz.

In any case, how much faster you can go will depend on whether the other components can tolerate the higher bus speed.

guess that means there was no 1/5 pci divider on the board

in other words, from what i understand, if you are running the fsb/mem at 166mhz (pc2700 speed) then all the devices that are supposed to be running at 33.3mhz will instead be running at 41.5 which is a ways out of spec

correct me if i am wrong here but the pci divider only aprears to be a fractions of the the fsb and not the memory clock. therefore it seems like you would be able to run the memory at 166mhz and the fsb at the standard 133 (if the bios lets you do such a thing, which it should) and still keep all the divices on the pci bus within spec

running devices out of spec can lead to data corruption or even permanently damage them
so make sure you look into this
but if all else fails the faster memory can always run at a lower clock like 133mhz which is what the board is intended to be running

hope this helps
