Can I use a VIVO card to see TV?

yup that works. tried it on my AIW radeon before but it doesnt come out as clear as a normal tv.

Radeon 64 VIVO, not sure what its called now. Its cheaper than the AIW cards, and no faster cards have VIVO, as far as I've seen.

The quality is the same as ona tv, but you can't make it full screen. CABle only has a vertical resolution of about 525 lines max. Computer monitors have a much higher resolution. IF you record tv on your pc and then play it back on your tv it will look almost identical provided you use the right codescs to record it.

There are a lot of faster cards with VIVO. Gainward has a GF3 and a GF3 Ti500 that have VIVO. I'm not sure if the Radeon 7500 has VIVO, but I'm pretty sure the Radeon 8500 has VIVO. All of these cards listed are faster than an R64 VIVO card.

thing is, how do you make it work? I have a gainward gf3 w/ vivo and i have a coaxial from cable. how can i get tv watching on my comp? I guess i need some kind of tv tuner thing that changes coaxial to composite video in. But then, where do i plug in the sound?

Well, you can do what xboxdude suggests in his original question:

"Can I use a VIVO card like the Gainward or MSI and see TV on a PC by feeding the svideo from a VCR?"

Just feed the video from your vcr into the video card. If your vcr doesn't have S-video, then use an S-video to rca adapter(my old Gainward GF2 Pro/450 came with one, so your Vivo gainward gf3 should have one) and connect it to your vcr using that.
To get sound just hook up the rca sound connectors from the vcr to your stereo, or use an adapter to connect it to the line in on your sound card.
