Can I use a Hub to share internet?

Yes.
But a better idea is to get an inexpensive router and share the connection that way.
It adds the benefits of an NAT firewall, DHCP server, and one IP addy from the cable company.

yes, but then the win2k machine will be serving as the router... so if u turn off the router... the other pc's can't access the net.

With my cable company, GCI, all you need to do is connect the cable modem to the hub with a crossover cable and use straight cables from the hub to as many as eight PC's. Each PC is dynamically assigned its own IP address and all at no extra charge.

I have the same situation as dkozloski with Roadrunner, except I only get to hook up to 5 computers rather than eight.

watch out.... with my ATTBI, they dynamically assign IP's to each computer but charge you for every MAC address you have hooked up. I went to a router which in the long run will pay for its self. (I had 4 extra computers hooked up @ 5.95 each = about 24 a month, so the router pays for itself in 3 months.)
