Can I use a 250w PS for AMD/Duron setup?

Or do I need a 300w or greater PS?

BTW, reason I ask is I need to build a new Duron computer, and I have mid-tower case with 250w PS handy, so if that will work, I won't need to buy a new case.

i've posted this question before 😛 ppl say that if u have a good quality 250w psu... it should be ok (depending on how many devices u plan on powering). i have a 250w sparkle psu, and it powers my rig with the following specs:

800 athlon w/volcano II
ecs k7s5a
256mb pc2100
32mb asus v6800 (gf256)
13gb wd hd
24x10x40 lite-on
1.44 floppy

the 250w sparkle i had powering this rig did a wonderful job. my $.02 🙂

This will be a very simple system:

AMD Mobo
Duron 1GHz
256mb PC133
10gb HD
32x CD-ROM
8mb video card
some sort of PCI card for simulation purposes

I have enlight 250w power supplies, you think that will be enough?

i will 2nd spanky, i have a 250w enlight, i'm running raid, cdrw, cdrom, 32mb vid, nic, modem, printer, scanner, web cam

I built a comp for someone that only wanted to use his microATX case that had a 150watt power supply and his 600mhz duron did just fine for over a year.
