Can I upgrade my laptop processor???

I have Lenovo G565
Currently it has Phenom II N850 triple-core processor.
codename: caspian
Socket S1(638)

It has Lenovo Guam motherboard.

Chipset is AMD 785GX
Southbridge AMD SB800
the processor I have now is too slow..
I wish for an upgrade..

Please suggest few good processors that my motherboard supports....

It is very hard and sometimes impossible to swap out a CPU on a lappy, you will have to crawl through heaps of cramed in hardware and then sometimes find it is soldered on(no swap possible) and then if it is possible you will have to find a CPU with the exact or lower TDP with the same socket and watts, But consult with an expert first

pretty easy, open the bottom, unscrew the heatsink area and bam, as long as you can find a processor for it

Doesn't look like you have much options... You can gain a whole 100 mhz or go Quad at the same speed if you need to stay at 35w.

If the laptop will support 45w you can gain 200mhz and go quad.

Sometime you can but as your probably seeing its usually more trouble then its worth.

How much ram do you have in it?

I actually did this once on my NV55S03u, changed the APU from A4-3300M to A8-3500M and it was a great boost to the graphics etc. I had to use K10stat though to set the voltages lower so it wouldn't overheat, I was going from dual core to quad core and the heatsink couldn't handle it. But I used it for a long time to game and now have a dedicated gaming PC, but yea it still runs and I keep it around 60C full load with Prime95 provided I have the vcores and K10stat running, otherwise it'll shoot up beyond 90C in no time.
