I have a full version of Win 98 SE. Can I buy the upgrade to XP professional and do a freash install like I do with my W2K upgrade CD ?

A little search would have shown that this question is asked daily.

Win98/Me can upgrade to XP Home OR XP Pro.
NT4/W2K can only upgrade to XP Pro.+

You don't have to have 98/Me installed, you just have to insert the CD when asked to prove you own a copy.

Microsoft wouldn't restrict you from using the more expensive OS, no way.. So of course you can go from 98 to xp pro. Heck you could probably buy the most expensive server license if you wanted to 🙂

Once you're paying Pro prices, they won't let you back down to the cheaper home version.

Interesting, I guess is time to dig up my Win98SE CD for a fresh installation, the upgrade version is $100 cheaper then full after all. BUMP.
