I have a device that is WiFi capabale, but it will not do Ad-Hoc. It will only talk to A.P.s .

Can I turn the PCMCIA WiFi card in my laptop into an A.P. so that my device can connect to it ?

Well let see.

Access Point go for over $50. PCMCIA cards as low as $10.

Nah it would not work.

However try to find the OEM of the card may be there is other drivers that can turn the Card to be Ad-Hoc capable.

There is software that will emulate an AP with a client device, PC card. Last time I looked it was all Linux based. Perhaps there is windows emulator software out there now but I don't know of any. What kind of card do you have that doesn't have Ad-Hoc functionality? That's sorta hard to believe.
