can I transfer file between 2 computer with switch?

Right now I have a win2k pro and winXP pro computer sharing Cox broadband with Linksys EZXS55W Switch.
Can I use this switch to transfer files between both computer ? or can I use direct connect crossover cable and connect between both comp?

When you browse "My Network" can you see the other computer?

when I open "my network places" i can only see my own computer and vice versa.
is there anyway to add other computers?
