i'm done with my gnc mega man vitamins. but the wife has her gnc women's ultra mega vitamins and it contains 2x more D-3, whatever that means. is it safe for a man to take women's multivitamins or will it make my boobs grow bigger?

Should be fine. The main difference is they probably have more iron. I take about 3000iu of d3 a day and that is probably way more than those vitamins have.

IANAD, but iirc, the only thing you need to worry about is Iron

Women lose iron regularly, men can actually overdose on iron.

thanks for the helpful response. i skimmed through and couldn't figure what was different. there is 100% iron per serving for women. wonder why they skimp out for men? i also just notic3d folic acid here. maybe its better for us to take their supplements?

Your dick will fall off and you will want to start watching Lifetime movies.

this is not helpful. i'm already forced to watch Lifetime shows here and there. 🙁

The iron is too high in women's supplements for men. Men shouldn't have too much iron because us men do not have a natural way to flush it out that women do every month. One or two should be OK, but I wouldn't take much more.

interesting. i was not aware about iron overdose. did they teach this in school? they should.

I think I found out from my doctor. However, in the end, I think iron absorption isn't very good from pills and veggies compared to beef liver or steak. Difference between heme and non-heme iron I believe...

For men the RDA is 8mg, for women it's 18mg*

So it's possible for both supplements to have 100% RDA for men or women and different amounts of iron, neither of which are skimping.

*assuming your are 19-50 age

Or, you could, you know, just eat a decent diet. Crazy talk I know.

it's actually a health concern that so many people eat vitamins, many people here in Denmark eat a perfectly healthy and varied diet that gives them all they need but then top it off with unnecessary and sometimes unhealthy doses of vitamins.

I just think it's interesting that there's a significant number of people willing to get granular about supplements but, totally unwilling to learn about food.

Because women have a uterus. And you don't.

Or maybe you do. I don't know. I'm not going to judge.

Unless you have a diagnosed deficiency like anemia, doctors are now saying you don't need to be taking daily vitamin supplements. A few studies have linked them to higher cancer rates as well. So if you're healthy, you pretty much get all you need from food as long as you have a varied diet. You'll be okay not taking them at all.

DNews did a little piece on it, with links for more in depth explanation.
