Hey everyone, well a buddy of mine has a XP2400 that he has left over from an upgrade he just did on his system, so he's practically giving it to me for nothing.

Anyway, I currently have a Epox 8KHA+ with a XP1800, Mushkin PC2100.

Will I be able to switch over to his XP2400 without any problems? It's the same fsb, isn't it? So my memory and everything should work fine, no?

Thanks.

As long as you flash to the newest (non-beta) BIOS. I'm pretty sure that your board supports Tbred, but get the latest BIOS to be safe.

What rev level board do you have?

rev 1.3 tops out at the 2000+ Palimino.

rev 2.0 will take up to the 2600+ T-Bred.

2400 , I bet it has that awkward high multiplyer. Like 133 x 13.5 . My soltek does not have that high of a multiplyer, so It would be a problem for me.

And on the KT333, the multiplyer is set by jumpers and not by the bios.

From their website if you flash to the 4/25/03 BIOS it appears you can go to at least the 2600+ with the 133 core. I believe on some boards it is partly dependent on the BIOS and the onboard power circuitry. I know I have worked on older boards where the system would fire up with the TBird core but not recognize it properly. Some are limited to CPUs with an older core but yours looks OK for that 2400XP+.
