Rosemary's my best guess. But that's just because of the song Scarborough Fair. :p Maybe some parsley... maybe some sage ;)

rosemary would have a very different flavor profile and is a lot more pungent than thyme.

Good substitutes would be to omit it completely, herbes de Provence, poultry seasoning, italian seasoning, savory, marjoram, or oregano

Depends on the recipe and personal preferences. You might be able to substitute rosemary or basil or even sage. If you have savory in your cupboard, that is generally a good substitute for thyme.

I've heard that thyme is money

so maybe you could shred up a dollar or somehting.

Whenever I'm missing a spice I just substitute in a couple of diced New Mexico chiles. If I'm missing several spices I substitute the said amount of chiles for each spice. It never fails. If it is hot enough noone will notice that some spices are missing.
