How to get counter-strike voice through usb headset and game sounds through speakers?
I has that enabled on my old computer. I got a new one and new speakers and a new sound card but same plantronics usb headset. How do I enable the game voices of people through the headset and the gunshots, footsteps, etc through speakers?

My USB headphones dont work when my speakers are enabled, but my computer recognizes them. I think that by using BOTH as sound devices at the same time, I can get the split sounds. How do I do that?

Right now, my headphones are being ignored by all programs. I cant even speak through them.

Did you try testing out your headphones using the software [if any] that came with them? What brand plantronics are you using? Try searching their tech support or even google for how to setup what you need.

You're probably using a 3rd party chat program? Did you set it up to use the headphones?

i think you want

control panel -> sounds & audio devices -> audio -> then change the default recording device to the headset

With a single soundcard you can get the mic from one source (say a headset) and sounds through another (say speakers).

This means though that you'll be wearing a headset (with earphones I assume) that will transmit your voice but otherwise have no sound at all.


If what you are really wanting is voice (mic and speakers) through the headset but game sounds through your speakers you'll need a 2nd sound card.

Another option (the one I use). Pickup a microphone from radio shack. They have these ones that have have a mouth-boom mic but no speakers. I've got a pimp 5.1 system and some $250 headphones. I'm not giving up either of those to be stuck with some telephone quality headphones that typically come with a mic.

I had similar senario, but I have 3.5mm jack headset. So I got this cable splitter that allows me to plug in both speakers and headset in one jack.

i have 2 soundcards and can't figure this out either.

you either get mic only though one and all sound output through the other or you can only go all 1. there is no way to say what program uses what sound card.
