Sweet, was not excpecting this.

Ati sent me a 9800 instead of a 9500 Pro that went bad on me.

Xmas comes early.

Happy yuletide everyone.

Marc

Edit: OK I ran Ati Tool and its an Ati 9800 Non Pro
Chip type: R350
Memory size: 128mb
Default 324.00/290

Still very very cool !

😀 Yes, Santa came early!

(BTW: Isn't the 128 bit a Powercolor model? I didn't think ATI produced the 128 bit version?)

Yeah, I don't think there are any ATI branded 128 bit 9800pros. Though I could be wrong.

Just run ATItool if there is any doubt, as it will tell you the core (R350 likely) and memory properties (128 or 256-bit).

Yeah run ATI tool and see what you have.

Also check the ram speed rating, could be a non-pro which people have been getting when RMA'ing a 9500pro. 3.3ns-3.0ns Infineon = non-pro

Still excellent 🙂

Im pretty sure 9800 Pro's only come 256 Bit

Except for the ones that Sapphire built with 128bit ram. 😀

They were forced to rename the boards and make amends due to public embarrassment.

Yeah, when it was revealed that some of Sapphire's 9800 pros only had 128bit ram, I joked that they had brought out the 9500pro again! 🙂

Yep 9500pro is basically a 9800pro 128bit RAM

More like a downclocked 128-bit 9700Pro (since that's the core it uses)... but, basically, close enough. 😛

Heh, yeah, if by 9800P you mean 9700, then I agree, vg0. 😀

Congrats, pMM. Makes me want to RMA my 9700P b/c of its rolling lines problem and my system instability. I wouldn't mind a 9800P in return, but if my stability is caused by insufficient power, that may only make it worse. Decisions, decisions....
