Probably not since it doesn't pose a threat to you or your family in general.

You don't have time to look it up, because the guy is in your car. Sure...PERFECTLY LEGAL. Go right ahead.

Depends on the state, in some absolutely! You are free to protect life, liberty and property.

No, but last night someone broke into my car. Seems the Sheriff department doesn't do enough patrols around here since this was the fucking third time in two years..

if he does it on your property and in your garage, you are allowed to shoot someone.

A screwdriver can be used as a deadly weapon, so therefore under self defense of ON your property of course, you can shoot him dead.

However i dont honor anyone killing anyone,

But if you do shoot someone, my theology is make sure you kill him.
Or HE WILL come after you. either legally or revenge wise.

Do you leave anything in your car that would be worth stealing?

Unless you're inside the car at the time, this is illegal in most or all states. Even then, you'd have to reasonably believe your safety was in danger. You could certainly shoot an armed carjacker, but that's because it's a violent crime and has nothing to do with the potential loss of property.

gun in car and not in truck locked in a box = concealed weapon.

Your gonna get your ass handed on a platter to the DA if you shoot someone in you car.

Thankfully most states are moving to making it perfectly legal to protect property.

The first two times were my fault as I forgot to lock my car. This time they slim jimmed it. At any rate, they took my CD/MP3 player which was a POS. I'm just thankful they didn't break any of my windows. First time they took my change out of my console, the next time they hit the motherload with an amp and subs.

I believe more than half of the US states now has "shall issue" concealed carry laws, and if you're licensed to carry, there's nothing illegal about carrying inside a car.

its funny.

i love how people think shooting someone is like a videogame in CS. Or a gangster movie.

I have friends who are cops. And one that actually shot someone and killed him. He wasnt the same after that.

And in police departments, they have full time shrinks who consel officers who are involved in shootings.

Its not as simple as pulling the trigger. Rarely will anyone bust a smile like the heavy in TF2, while unloading there clip at someone.

Personally I think that is a stupid development. Only a moron would shoot someone to protect his car IMO.

It's not about a video game it's about frustration that the law doesn't give a fuck. You know what happened when I reported this the last two times, it took them three hours to show up. When they did show up they basically said I'm screwed and to check all the pawn shops in the area. They didn't even care to check for prints. And you know how often I see a Sheriff in my area, maybe once every six months even with all the crime that goes just around the block. So call it what you want, I'm frustrated that no justice is being served.

In most states no. You can barely defend your house in many of the lily-livered liberal states. Use of deadly force is often restricted to life threatening situations. The only way someone breaking into your car is life threatening is if you're in it at the time.

Shooting the guy breaking into your car to steal your POS CD/mp3 player is a bit extreme IMO though...

you'll probably be on dodgy ground and might be charged, generally your life isn't in danger in that situation. so justification to shoot may not be there.
