Can I set up a raid array with similar but different

Hard drives? Both 7200 rpm and 40 Gig each. One is a Western Digital the other is an IBM...what do you think??

There's a number of unknowns here.. care to elaborate? IDE? SCSI? What raid level(0,1,2,5, etc)? :confused:

both IDE ulta ata 100's and I was thinking about a raid 0 I believe. As you can tell I know very little about this but I do know that XP pro will set it up pretty much auto magically. I just don't want to waste time resetting everything up all over again if it is not going to work...know what I mean.

It should work fine.

If one of the drive is slightly smaller then you will lose the difference in the larger drive. IE you wont be able to access it.

It's generally not recommened to use two different manufacturers but you can do it.

Thank you. I am going to ghost my drive over to an 80 Gig and then try the two 40gigs...Thanks for the help
