Cu'z I purchased a CPU seconded from the States, and I was gonna send MO. But I realized that I actually have $155 USD cash in my drawer... So, I am thinking to send the cash instead, because that saves the exchange rate and the MO service fee....

I sent $5 in the mail about a year ago and it never got to the destination. I would go with the MO ecspecially with $155.

i don't think it's illegal but very risky.

no way to track down the money and anybody can cash it since it's already cash.
i personally would never send cash in mail unless it's got insurance/tracking on it.

Take your $155 and get a MO. It doesn't cost much, ~$1 IIRC.

then definetely no.

if the other guy says he didn't recieve it or nothing was in the mail, you have no way to prove money was in it.

I've done it about 20 times and have never had a problem.

However I've only done it for up to $50, how much cash are you sending?

How much is an international money order or cashier's check in Canadia?

Um.. I don't remember.. I think it's something like $5.00 CDN... So that's like $3.00 USD...

I see.

I agree. I've only sent cash to people I trust, not total strangers.

DO NOT SEND CASH! They can claim that they never received it.

Play it safe and send a monetary instrument, something traceable.

Even if you have tracking on the package, there is nothing to prove that you sent the cash in the first place. And insurance will not cover money through the mail if it happens to get lost. Bottom line, sending cash is bad news unless you are sending it to Mom.

when i was a kid, my dad sent me a letter and some money through the mail. got the letter, but no money. i dont know if the money was taken out and resealed or my dad didnt come through. either way, if your gunna send money, at least use nice thing printer paper and wrap it around the money so it cant be seen when held up to a light. i ultimately suggest a M.O. (money order) though.

The reason they tell you not to send money is basically because the postal workers can easily see it's cash. Then they open it and take it. YOu have no proof you ever sent it. ALso the guy on the recieving end could screw you over, as said before.

I know that CIBC has an Email Money Transfer service. I've never used it, but according to the promo it works with most banks.
