OK, so I have tried out the live version of Ubuntu, and I like it. It runs slow from the CD drive, though, so I would like to install it on the HDD. I still need to be able to use Microsoft Visio and Project, so I would like to keep a Win2K install as well. Is it possble to choose which OS to boot into, and how?

I apologize if this has been asked before, I could not find it.

What bootloader does Ubuntu use?

Either way... most Linux's bootloader are far more intelligent than the standard Windows boot sector..

You might have to resize your ntfs partition if it covers the whole hard drive. I think Ubuntu should be able to do this for you, but if not then there's always the GParted LiveCD. :)

So, I have to make a Linux and a Win2K partition? Can they read each other's files?

Depends on the files, but most likely yes.

If you're more worried about filesystems: using NTFS for Windows (which you should be), Linux can probably read it just fine. Linux has issues with writing to NTFS unless you use kludgey hacks.

Windows has limited ext2fs support if you download the drivers.

You'll probably want at least 2 Linux partitions, one for / and the other for swap.

OK, I decided to give Linux a shot, and decided to install Ubuntu on my Dell laptop. Mostly, I am impressed, but I have a problem. I cannot get my US Robotics 5410 wireless PCMCIA card to function.
On the usr.com homepage, I can download Linux drivers. However, those are .exe files, and I do not know what to do with those in Ubuntu. I have tried installing the dldrinstall from Linuxant, but it asks for Windows XP .inf files which I do not have, since the Windows drivers from usr.com are automatic installation .exe files.

Any suggestions?

(I have already posted this in technical support, but no-one seemed to know.)

Have a look Here on UbuntuForums.org

That's a great reference for any Ubuntu questions. :)
