Can I run 333FSB on a KT333?

I know that the official anser is that the KT333 handles a 266MHz FSB and 333MHz memory. I'm wanting to upgrade my XP1700 that sits on a Soltek 75DRV-5. I can set the FSB to 333 in bios. Does anyone know if I have any chance of dropping a 2600 on there?

Look in your motherboard manual. Some KT333s do support 333FSB however the majority don't.

It says it supports all 200/266 durons/tbirds/tbreds, but I'm pretty sure that is the official capabilities of the KT333 from VIA.

I think running 333 on any KT333 mainboard is overclocking. I just need to know if it's a reasonable, stable overclock.

According to Abit, there are two different versions of the VIA KT333 chipset, one will do the 333 fsb (ASUS A7V333 is an example of one that does, I have it running that) and the Abit KX7-333 will NOT support the 333 fsb (I have one and it won't run my XP2700)

It's not reasonable and it wouldn't be stable. Most KT333s don't support the 5/1 divider for 333FSB so if you had it running at those speeds you would be running with your PCI bus at 41.5Mhz which is waaaaaaay to far for it.

The Soltek CPU support lists shows your rev of the 75DRV supports 166fsb CPUs, and I suspect that despite the fact it ends with the 2800+ that it will support all 166fsb CPUs just perhaps without proper CPU ID in the table.

I ran my old MSI KT3 Ultra 2 with a fsb of 166 it ran well for a year but after a bit it started hard locking and didn't like being over FSB of like 162. With the FSB at 162 the AGP and PCI was lower than 33mhz so it caused my system performance to die as well. I got rid of the board and got a A7N8X DLX and ran those same components at FSB of 182 hehe =) Needless to say I never looked back .

My old Epox 8K3A supports it. In fact, used to o/c my 1700xp at 12x166 with it. Worked great.
