70c is nothing. My titan will hit almost 80c playing Crysis 3 and throttle down to 1032mhz from 1045mhz. Whoopedoo.

I have a Twin Frozr 7870. In some situations, my card reaches about those same temperatures.

What are your room/ambient temps like? Ambient temperature has a huge effect on card temperature. For me personally, this is an odd time of year when it's too warm to open a Window, but not warm enough to turn on the AC. As a result, my room temperature is a bit hotter than normal. My Twin Frozr 7870 reached 67 degrees last night while playing Sniper Ghost Warrior 2.

~70 degree max temp is perfectly normal for benchmarks and torture testing. If anything, that's pretty good... it's not uncommon for high-end cards to reach 80 degrees during benchmarking. If you're really worried about it, turn on your air conditioning or open a window.

You are wrong, and post a pic of your case. The case, what you have in the case, fans and cable management all affect your temps. You can also adjust your fan profile if it is so important to you.

You cannot RMA something because you have unrealistic expectations. I don't think you understand that Twin Frozr isn't going to drastically change the temps of the card... Non reference designs hardly ever make a huge difference maybe 5c you seem to be expecting a lot from 2 small fans...

I am using 1440x900 ( because of old monitor ) And i have that 70-72 C temps in games. Its not too high temps for that resolution? if i buy new monitor then temps will be higher on higher res? If yes, how much temps will be raised?



I want to be sure that my temps are ok on my 1440x900 resolution.

Temps are fine, not even close to being in danger. Just enjoy your card and quit worrying about temps. If your card is a Twinfrozr 3, its really not much better than the reference cooler since it has smaller 80mm fans.

What does the "fine print" on your GPU warranty say? I doubt MSI has to honor such a request. Have you contacted their support section about your concerns?

A 680 for 1440x900 res? Even if it throttled massively, that resolution is childs play for even mid-range cards. But Kepler throttling should be imperceptible in gaming, its only 13mhz per 5c over 70 and then only affecting the max boost. Another thing, not all cards boost the same, you may get a lesser performing card than what you have. Your card, as is, is over-qualified for the res you're on. Seriously dude, upgrade the monitor.

No the temperatures are not high. You are the kind of person that increases the cost for EVERYONE ELSE by returning cards that are 100% perfectly functional. Not every chip, fan, and ambient temperature is identical.

Last question. I have a log from Crysis 3 . I have 70C with 55% fan speed ( auto ). Its ok with that fan speed or no? Here is the screen:

I think you are too worried about temps and you need to shut off MSI AB, and any temp logs and game and enjoy. Your temps are fine now, they were fine 1 month ago, 2 months ago, your 3dmark scores were fine too. Quit complaining about non issues.

You do realize the Twin Frozr fans idle around 40-50%. They aren't like reference cards. They operate at a higher fan %. Though that means nothing, as % does not equal RPM. 100% fan speed on one design may have a different RPM than another.

I wouldn't be worried. IF your fans were running at 100% all the time on auto I'd be worried.

Is it noisy? Your temps are fine. Relax and play some games.😉

On review sites , max load temps for that card are max 65.

But i am little worried , because i saw a few videos on youtube with that card, and there are max 61C on games.

OMG those review sites should RMA their cards because the Youtube reviews got 4°C less. D:

This is what happens when the computer enthusiast/gamer/overclocker population as a whole obsess about cooling and temperatures and clock speeds. We get, ahem, less informed persons who get infected by doubt.

My card: Msi Gtx 680 Twin Frozr. I have max temp 70c while benchmarking and playing Crysis3. 65-68 C are in other games.

Can i RMA that card? We all know that 70C is a first throttle point.


On review sites , max load temps for that card are max 65.

We all know that is Twin Frozr cooling and i should get little low temps even on Crysis 3 or benchmarks.

If you are having trouble keeping your card temperatures down, you might want to consider a better grade of TIM between the GPU and cooler:

I dropped the load temperatures on my Power Edition 670s about 6-8C with this stuff. I had throttling and temperature issues, mainly on benchmarking runs (Valley, Heaven, FireStrike), with the cards ending up in the mid 70s, but now I can keep them at 70C and below at full utilization with an aggressive fan profile.

This was after I had already tried Thermalright Chill Factor 3, Arctic Silver 5 and Shin-Etsu X23 with no better results than the factory TIM.
