Hello, I have one of these heatsinks, and I think that the fan is beginning to die. Do you think it is possible to replace the fan with another one, or am I stuck having to get a new heatsink. If I can replace it, are there any good, quiet fans you guys can recommend? Thanks.

yes you can replace it. Just unscrew the fan And screw in another in its place. I would look at newegg and SVC for fans. Remember that DBA is sound CFM is air flow. Hire CFM is good and Lower DBA is good.

The problem is that this is a rare 70mm fan. Nexfan stocks the same fan, and that is my only option other than the TMD fans. Also, I think the problem is that the fan is spinning 700rpm faster than it is supposed to - do you think a fanmate could remedy the problem?

You could always use an 80-70mm adapter (at SVC) and put a quieter 80mm fan on there. Not too hard to rig that. It'll be cooler too - gets rid of the hot spot under the fan hub.
