Can I replace my Rio 800 battery?

The instructions say to send it back to the factory to replace the battery! Good grief.... Has anyone done this themselves?

Never mind. I replaced the old battery with a new, rechargeable NMH battery and it's working fine.

So much for having to send it back to the factory or plunking down $350 for a new Ipod. (I want one anyway, though.)
