Can I repair a damaged vga cable. Splicing?

One of the pins broke off on the vga connector going to the video card and now it won't display correctly. The monitor cable is integrated so I can't just replace it with another one, I don't think. Is there anyway to fix this without sending it off to a repair shop where theyll probably charge what I paid for the monitor for repairs. Can I try splicing it with another undamaged vga cable?
 
i did this once...the display worked and everything, but i got this 'shadowing' effect, possibly from lower shielding or degradation of signal. it's a bitch though to splice 15 wires back together. don't know if you want to risk this or just go get the pin fixed.
 
You're gonna be better off just to replace it. A repair can certainly be made with LOTS of patience

and the right materials, but with the frequencies involved, it is very easy to give yourself headaches.

(reflected energy from improper splicing, EMI from improper shielding, the time it takes, etc.)
