Can I rent a car for a day or two if I am only 18?

I have driver license. But I heard that they only rent cars to the people who are older than 21. As for reference, I live in San Francisco, CA.

Its between 21 and 25 depending on the company you are trying to rent from.

In Canada, you gotta be 21.

there is 1 exception..

Enterprise Renta car (E-car) will let you rent when you are 18 or over.. mind you, paying higher insurance.

If you don't have enterprise in the US, (I really have no idea) then I am not sure if you can or not.

same thing here in NY ...i think someone over 25 has to sign for it, but you can legally drive it at 18....

I always see at least one ad in the school paper for companies that rent to people under 21.

but, I'm sure they will charge you extra.

Don't go to one of the chain rental places (Budget, Enterprise, Hertz. etc...)

Look in the phonebook for a small place that is individually owned...
They will let you.. you might have to have you own insurance..

for this reason I don't know should I just buy a car or rent one, I still have 2 months for me to get a car... I need that so I can drive my gf to prom. dang. where can I rent one...

if you are traveling because of business and your company has an existing account and is willing to do the booking, you can rent if over 18.
