can i remove my xp upgrade?

i upgraded my current compuer to windows xp pro...im now going to build a computer and dont want to buy windows again...i wanted to know if i can uninstall the xp upgrade off that computer and than use it with windows 98 cd to put windows on the computer i will be building?

plz help with this

It's always nice to see folks that actually give a crap about licensing. :)

What was the OS on your current computer prior to the upgrade? Was it OEM or retail?

it was windows me..came witht he computer...so i assme it was retail...i have acces to a windows 98 cd tho so i was gonna use that and xp pro upgrade for the new comp...

Rats. If it was XP home or 2000 you could inplace upgrade to roll it back. Not sure with ME, sorry.

in XP there is a function that allows you to restore to a certain pont, it should be under the control panel configuration menu

System Restore doesn't allow you to reverse an operating system upgrade.

If you are worried activation of your XP license, you may be able to activate it on your new machine over the internet. If not you can call them and do it over the phone and they should give you a new key as long as you explain what you are doing.
