can i reformat/reinstall win98 on my laptop WITHOUT a floppy Drive? I have seemed to try booting from cd but that does not work? is there a cd i can burn that is bootable? thanks!

My Windows 98SE CD is bootable.

But I also have the real CD, not a copy 😉

Your hardware must also support booting from CD - some older equipment does not. Check your BIOS for these options.

you can make bootable CDs that are exactly like bootable floppies... big waste of space, but i've have had uses for them.

Use something like Partitionmagic to create another separate partition.
Copy the files from the win98 directory to a new folder on the new partition.
Reformat the old partition. Run setup from the new folder/new partition..........

Assuming that you already have win98 installed on your laptop.. and you have more than one hdd partition.. yes.

Copy the win98 CD to your other partition. Press F8 during boot up, choose dos mode. From there, you can format and reinstall from your hdd. But remember.. if you screw up during setup, it'll ask for command.com.. which you don't have anymore coz you just formatted it.
