Can i record in-game videos with my capture card?

Just got a video capture card and was wondering if it's possible to use it to capture in-game videos? If so, what kind of software is recommended?
 
i use camtasia with decent results. i usually record in-game graphics in windowed mode, which allows me easy access to the video capture control panel whilst the game is running. credit to spacecomber for turning me on to this little gem. 🙂
