Can I RAID right now and keep my data?

I'm curious. As you can see in my sig, I've got 2 75 GB Western Digital Drives. They're the exact same Hard Drives, but I didn't RAID them off the bat. I'm curious, can I do it now while still keeping all my data? Also, due to stupid reasons, I didn't use any thermal paste on my p4 cooler. I can't seem to get it loose. My assumption is that the thermal tape has fused with the processor. Is there any way I can get it off without damaging my processor? If not, how much can I OC my computer with the stock cooler and tape? Thx for any replies

You should be able to get a little extra out of the processor, and you should be able to remove the HS without all that much difficulty. Maybe you could try a thin blade. The P4 has a heatspreader, so you *shouldn't* pose to much risk to the core. Don't do it cos I said so, it might be a really stupid idea. :p

I believe there is a program that allows you to RAID-0 (stripe) and transfer the data, but you'll have to wait for someone else to confirm/link/tell me I'm talking crap.

With sw based onboard RAID, you cannot build a RAID-0 config with your current drives without losing all data. I suggest you make an image to some other disc, build the RAID and move the image to the RAID array. Or, just take backups and do a clean install.

I know some high-end hardware based RAID cards allow you to build arrays without losing your data, but thats not the case here...

I'd have to agree with the others on this. Since Raid 0 is striping across multiple disks, it seems obvious that the initial raid 0 operation would overwrite the drives to configure the striping.

Also, on the OC'ing, I would normally recommend most P4 owners to OC, but I don't feel too good about thermal tape, so I wouldn't do it too much if I were you. Run something like MBM (motherboard monitor), and make sure your temps are reasonable (under 48C would be reasonable to me).
