Can I put Windows XP on this laptop?

I'm going to college and I'm looking at getting this laptop from a friend: http://www.gateway.com/systems/series/529598025.php

It has Vista on it and I really don't want to deal with using Vista right now. Can I reformat the laptop and put Windows XP on it? It's a dumb question but I really have to make sure before I pull the trigger on it.

If it will run Vista, it will run with XP. First get/download all the drivers for the laptop before burning the bridge.
